About Us

Our Mission

At the heart of our Mission Statement, Canossa Kindergarten has a focus on caring for the children entrusted to us. Our aim is to surround each child with love and understanding. Educators know their children individually and provide personalised educational opportunities.

We believe that children learn best through positive motivation, at stimulating learning environment and interaction with others. By providing a safe and caring environment, children are encouraged to grow in respect for other and oneself.

We welcome families with warm and generous hearts and support children in these crucial developement years. There is truly a family spirit at Canossa Kindergarten, where past parents and students always feel welcome to return and remain part of the Canossa Community.

Canossa Kindergarten offers comprehensive educational programs focusing on growth through play-based learning and emergent curriculum. We encourage a love of learning and prepare the children for their transition to school.

Our History

Canossa Kindergarten is run by the Canossian Daughters of Charity, an international religious congregation founded more than 200 years ago. The Canossian Sisters, through their specific charism, dedicate themselves to making Jesus known and loved. In imitation of the Foundress, St Magdalene of Canossa, all involved at Canossa Kindergarten work for the integral promotion and formation of the child, with a preference for those who are most in need.

Canossa Kindergarten was opened in 1967 at Coorparoo, on the south side of Brisbane. The Canossian sisters were invited to take over the premises which were origionally run by lay people. For the past 50 years, the Kindergarten has grown in opportunities to reach out to an ever increasing number of children and families from all walks of life. The Sisters continue to focus on providing a sound foundation for the children before their entry to Primary School.

During these crucial formative years, the collaboration between sisters, lay staff and families remain paramount in ensuring that the best care can be provided for all those who enter Canossa Kindergarten for the first experience of learning. The philosophy of education is drawn from the Gospel values and rooted in St. Magdalen's vision, that through education, human and Christian values can be discovered, accepted and lived. There is a deep value and respect for each child, revodnising differences in capabilites and embracing diversity as a gift.

My son Max is a hyperactive kiddo! Basically that was the initial reason for me to enroll him somewehre, where he can get all of his extra energy out! Canossa offered the perfect option for me, as it is both fun, interactive and offers an early age start at 3!
